It's the time of year for Summer bbq's with family and Sunday picnics with your bestest gal pals. We've put together a list of 5 cocktails you need to try thisÂ
summer holiday period. So gather your girls and make a day of it; what's more fun than making cocktails on a summers day and then relaxing by the pool.Â

This light boozy lemonade is the perfect thing to serve at an outdoor soiree (or bbq if you aren't feeling fancy.)Â
The Recipe:Â
4 cups ginger beerÂ
2 cups fresh lemon juiceÂ
1 bottle (750ml) rose wine, chilledÂ
1 bottle (750ml) Cocchi Aperitivo AmericanoÂ
10 dashes grapefruit bittersÂ
Lemon wheels, for garnishÂ
Assorted editable flowers, for garnishÂ

Place an ice ring or 3 cups of ice cubes in a punch bowl. Add the ginger beer, lemon juice, rose, Cocchi Aperitive Americano andÂ
grapefruit bitters, and stir together gently. Garnish with the lemon wheels and edible flowers, if using. Serve in rocks glasses.Â

It's essentially fruit salad in a glass, so you know it's good for you. Customize using whatever's in season at the time -Â
or whichever produce reminds you of the country you long to visit.Â
The Recipe:Â
45ml Pimms No. 1Â
14ml floral gin, such as HendricksÂ
14ml dry curacaoÂ
7ml fresh lemon juiceÂ
5 drops Star Anise TinctureÂ
About 60ml ginger beerÂ
thinly sliced cucumbersÂ
mint sprigs and assorted fresh fruit and veggies, such as raspberries, currants and watermelonÂ
radish, for garnishÂ

Combine the Pimms, gin, curacao, lemon juice and star anise tincture (if using) in a wineglass and stir to blend. Top with ginger beer. garnish frivolouslyÂ
with seasonal fresh fruit and sprigs of mint. Cucumber is a must! Sub in a splash of champagne or sparkling wine for the ginger beer to make a Pimm's Royale.Â

Fresh strawberries keep this drink from being too cloying, while rhubarb lends a bright colour.Â
The Recipe:Â
60ml VodkaÂ
4 fresh strawberriesÂ
1 teaspoon of Rhubarb PureeÂ
8ml lime juiceÂ
Dash of white balsamicÂ
Dash of simple syrupÂ

In a pint glass, muddle strawberries. Add rhubarb puree, lime juice, simple syrup and white balsamic. Pour all ingredients into a pint glass full of ice,Â
add vodka, gently shake. Strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with sliced rhubarb.Â

This pretty pink punch is made with refreshing coconut water, champagne, juice and fresh fruit. Talk about yummmmm on a warm, summers day!Â

The Recipe:Â
1 1/2 cups coconut water, flavoured or plainÂ
1 cup+ champagne or white wineÂ
1/2 cup orange juiceÂ
1/4 cup to 2+ cups of frozen or fresh fruitÂ
splash grenadineÂ
1 drop pink or red food colouringÂ

Combine all ingredients in a large mixing bowl or pitcher, stir to combine, chill in the fridge before serving. If you don't drink alcohol, you can use non-alcoholicÂ
wine or champagne, white grape juice or simply omit and adjust proportions of other ingredients to taste. Note: You can use ice to water down if need.Â

3 blackberriesÂ
2 raspberriesÂ
2 large red seedless grapesÂ
60ml cloudy apple juiceÂ
45ml cognacÂ
10ml lemon juice, or to tasteÂ
1 tsp caster sugarÂ
To serve: blackberries or raspeberries and apple slicesÂ

Crush berries and grapes with a muddler or wooden spoon in a cocktail shaker or bar glass. Add remaining ingredients, then half fill the shaker with ice,Â
shake well and strain into a tall glass filled with ice. Garnish with berries and apple slices and serve.Â
